Kinaesthetic & Experiential Learning

Kinaesthetic & Experiential Learning is a hands-on approach of knowledge delivery that allows member of My Center to physically experience the materials that they are being taught.

Through Kinaesthetic & Experiential Learning, members of My Center become a “builder”, not a passive recipient of knowledge.

Members of My Center will be more engaged, more motivated, and more successful as they are able to reflect on their experiences within learning opportunities, and connect what they are learning in “real life” scenarios.

Transferable Skills are developed as members of My Center are able to “dive” into the material, and get their “hands dirty”, allowing these skills to easily transfer into their personal lives, their community, and the world around them. At the same time, members of My Center will gain further independence, sense of accomplishment, and pride in themselves.

My Center’s Kinaesthetic & Experiential approach to learning also benefits the psycho-social growth and confidence of our members. At My Center, our members can build an increased level of self-esteem, engagement, motivation, social skills, and leadership skills through our hands—on learning opportunities.

Activities at My Center that offer our Kinaesthetic & Experiental Learning approach include - but are not limited to:

Basic Life Skills (i.e. cleaning, cooking); Advanced Life Skills (i.e. Budgeting, Paying Bills, Navigating Transportation);  Employment Coaching and Transferrable Employability Skills
